Cuttings from the forest floor delivered direct to your door

This month saw the APF Show at Ragley Estate.  It was a well laid out exhibition with a good range of forestry equipment on display - a few more working demos and more big boys toys would have been nice.

Salo Machinery had the Eschlböck Bieber 84 chipper on display.  This is the first chipper to have the Euro 6 Engine.  They also had some very nice beer and wine on their stand!

Simon O'Rouke Tree Carving Ltd

The A W Jenkinson and UPM Tilhill European Chainsaw Carving Competitions at the APF had the best 25 carvers in Europe competing to take the title.  Simon O'Rouke did this sculpture called "Fly Away" over the 3 days at the show.  It was amazing to watch Simon turn a block of wood into this beautiful fairy with a chainsaw.  Competition was very high and Simon didn't win, but I a m sure she will be very happy in her new home in London.

It was nice to see a steam powered saw bench in operation.  The only downside I could see with it was it burned almost 3 times the amount of wood it produced!

Oakleaf Forestry had some clever equipment for smaller forestry on view.  This is ideal equipment for smaller thinnings, clearfell and sensitive sites, where larger machines are not justified
